Family Worship

TIP 22

Take what you need – encouraging texts

Family without children

You and your family will write down on a piece of paper what you think will be encouraging for your family members. Each member will write down a keyword, such as “hope,” at a time and justify their choice. Then you will look for biblical texts related to each keyword that bring encouragement.

Using a larger piece of paper, list all the keywords and place the texts you found next to each one. Pin this sheet of paper somewhere visible so that you can use these texts during the week when you need it.

Family with children - teenagers

You and your family will write down on a piece of paper what you think will be encouraging for your family members. Each member will write down a keyword, such as “hope,” at a time and justify their choice. Then you will look for biblical texts related to each keyword that bring encouragement.

Choose a vessel or cup for each keyword and write it one in each one of the vessels/cups. On a piece of paper, write down each text you found and put each one in its respective place so that you can take one of these texts every time you need encouragement.

Family with children - children

You and your family will talk about the stories in the Bible and what encourages you in each one. After you have recalled each of the stories that are most important to you, together, look for images that remind you of these stories and print and cut it out one by one.

On cups, write the keyword of encouragement that each of these stories brings to you and place each image in its appropriate cup, so that you can encourage your children to look at the images in the cup whenever they need specific encouragement.
