Why Do People Scream?

One day, an Indian master, concerned about the behavior of his disciples, who were screaming at each other, asked the following question: “Why do people scream when they are upset or when they don’t understand each other?”

“We scream because we lost our temper,” said one of them.

“But why yell when the other person is right next to you?” questioned the thinker again.

“Well, we shout because we want the other person to hear us,” replied another disciple.

The master asks again:

“Cannot we talk to the other person in a low voice?”

The students gave several answers, but none of them convinced the old thinker, who clarified:

“The fact is that when two people scream it is because, when they are upset, their hearts are very far apart. And to cover this distance, they need to shout so that they can hear each other. The angrier they are, the louder they have to scream, so they can hear each other because of the great distance.”

And the wise man continued:

“On the other hand, when two people are in love, they do not scream; speak softly. Why? Because their hearts are very close. The distance between them is small. Sometimes their hearts are so close that they don’t even speak, they just whisper. And when love is more intense, they don’t even need to whisper, they just look at each other, which is enough. Their hearts understand each other. And that’s exactly what happens when two people who love each other are close.”

"By patience a commander is won over, and a gentle tongue can break a bone." (Proverbs 25:15)

Finally, the thinker concludes, saying:

“When you argue, don’t let your hearts go away, don’t say words that distance you further, because the day will come when the distance will be so much that you won’t find your way back.”

Likewise, we need to take care and watch over our relationship with Jehovah God. The more we try to read and understand what He likes and what He doesn’t, the closer we will be to Him.

After all, when we don’t care about our relationship with God, it’s very easy for us to get carried away by worldly things, as we feel distant from him and may have difficulty feeling his loyal love.
