Forgiveness of Jehovah

This illustration gives us food for thought so that we don’t give up and fall into a pit.

The family was enjoying a pleasant walk through the forest. Then Peter, the youngest, dodged, chasing a squirrel down the hill. Suddenly, the sky filled with clouds and it started to rain.

At first, it was a mild rain, but gradually it became a downpour. The family hastily gathered up their things and ran to the car. And everyone wondered where Peter was.

In the meantime, Peter was trying to get back to his family. It was hard to see ahead, and the path uphill was slippery in the rain. Suddenly, the ground seemed to open up under his feet as he fell into a deep, hidden hole.

He tried to get out of there, but the sides were too slippery. Rainwater ran down the hill and filled the hole with mud. Peter was really in danger of drowning. But then his father found him and pulled him out with a rope. Later, Peter was severely reprimanded for going away. Yet, wrapped in a blanket in his mother’s arms, the rebuke was easy enough to accept.

This experience is a good illustration of what happens to some of those who were once God’s people. They have fallen into the deep hole of this system of things, and are desperately seeking to crawl out of it and back under the shelter of Jehovah’s organization. How pleasant it is to know that Jehovah is merciful, and that he is ready to “let down the rope” and help you get back to safety! Return to me and I will return to you, says Jehovah.

"We must always be careful not to fall into a deep hole, just like Peter"
