Do Not Throw Away The Used Tea Bag
After making a hot tea, do you usually throw away the tea bag? Well, the truth is, most people would say yes, but here’s how to use it to clean the house and as beauty remedies.
There is green, black and even official tea to drink when you have a sore throat: tea is one of the hot drinks most consumed in winter and cool in summer. Some like to add milk or lemon, others prefer the natural one, without sugar. Whichever way you prepare it, there is a gesture that unites them all: throw away the tea bag. However, there are other options that few people know about. The sachets that contain the mixture to be left to infuse in hot water, in fact, can be reused in various ways, from household cleaning, through gardening, to beauty remedies.

In the kitchen and in the garden
In the kitchen, for example, tea bags placed in the water used to cook chicken and turkey help make the meat softer and more flavorful. They’re also very powerful against bad odors, so it’s a good habit to rub them into your hands after grating the garlic and onion. Likewise, they are effective when placed in the refrigerator or in the garbage can to eliminate the stinky odor.
Tea bags also have a degreasing effect: just dip them in hot water and then wash the dishes. If passed on the inner surface of the pots, they will help keep them clean and new for a longer time, thanks to their antioxidant and anti-rust capacity. But there’s more: after using them for tea, empty the contents onto wooden furniture, parquet or cutlery and scrub. The polishing effect is guaranteed!
On the other hand, those with a green thumb will be happy to know that tea bags help to grow healthy and lush plants. All you need to do is pour the contents into the watering can or compost that nourishes the plant.
It is also an ally in day-to-day care
What about their use as natural beauty remedies? If you suffer from acne or oily skin, for example, treat yourself to a good cup of peppermint tea and then apply the bags directly to your face: it will eliminate the shine effect and any redness.
In addition, tea bags (especially black or green), placed in the refrigerator after use, are also excellent against dark circles, to restore facial skin tone and relieve sunburn. Finally, their anti-inflammatory properties make them an effective remedy against swelling and itchiness from insect bites as well.
